Poor sick sick boy

Well It has surely been a long week for our little family. It has completely worn us all out. I finally got a good picture of how poor little Remy falls asleep after he stands up because he can't really figure out how to lay back down so he just balls up gatey blankey up under him so he can sleep. Sweet little thing. Remy is still sick. He is still throwing up about 1 time a day and diarrhea one time a day. He is barely eating anything. I just don't know what else to do. If I feed him anything thicker than applesauce he gags and barfs it up. He has been eating a lot of pear sauce and formula this week. He is getting really skinny. I took him to the doctor yesterday and he has lost 1 pound 2 ounces this week.

Even though the poor little guy has been sick he is still relatively jolly. He is tired and can't play as hard or long as he used too but he still manages to get into trouble. The one thing about when kids are sick is that they do like to cuddle. He has been so sweet and is always wanting to sit on my lap and cuddle, and he is still more than happy to bite his daddy's toes and drink his water as seen below. Any suggestions as to what we should do for him? How long do most kids stay sick like this?

the good, the bad, and the stinky

All week many of us work and look forward to a nice relaxing weekend. We struggle through those last few hours on a Friday and eventually BAM!!! You are as good as relaxing. Our weekend started out well. We both finished work, went to Texas Roadhouse and than returned home to play "Rockband 2" and the Beatles edition. My sisters and brother-in-law came over to join in the fun and we had a blast rocking out. Seriously I have to admit that I never thought I would like the game Rockband but it is totally awesome. I have played the piano since I was about 5 but as for actual "rock band" type instruments I haven't ever played them. I do like being the drummer the best. I'm not awesome although I think I am when I am playing on the easy setting. I also enjoy the singing, I'm not sure the other people in the room do but it could be worse we could actually be in public. We played until around midnight when my sisters and bro-in-law went home.

We got into bed and I went to check on Remy. He was kind of moaning and crawling around with his eyes closed so I layed him back down and got in bed. We heard him moaning again so Shaun went to check on him. I don't know what it is about Shaun checking on Remy but for some reason he causes this strange explosive body fluid reflex on the poor kid when he is sick. Remy barfed all over Shaun and the carpet, his bed. Yeah. It was bad. So Shaun bathed him and got him into some new jammies while I changed the bed. Seriously, those baby crib mattresses are like wrestling a full-size SpongeBob Square Pants. But poor Remy was up barfing every 20-30 minutes all night, with diarrhea explosions mixed in. i just stayed on the couch with him and held him so he could sleep between barfings.

Than I have been sick all day with the same thing. I hate having the gastroenteritis type of sickness. I seriously feel like death warmed over but I think i am slowly getting my energy back.

The best thing happened though. My parents just got back from vacation and they came over to see Remy. He has been standing on his own for a few seconds at a time and clapping because he is so proud of himself. They were very excited to see this. He of course being the little show-off that he is took his first steps!!!! It was so exciting. He took one step first and fell. Than he walked like 4 steps to me and kept taking about 4 steps to everyone else. So awesome. Of course I know that this means he will be a naughty reaching everything and running in a few days but it is so fun to see their progress.

My how the time flies

I once again find that I have been slacking on my blog and not been keeping up on Remy-isms. These past couple of weeks have been really busy. My parents have been out of town at their medical meeting so I have been holding down the fort at work with Molly. It makes for a busy week because besides seeing my own patients I am also seeing and answering questions for my Dad's patients for the week. But even with this little hitch in the giddy-up I have actually gotten quite a few things done. Last Thursday I cleaned out the "pit of death" bedroom that we just tend to throw all of our junk in. I beadazzled my pants. For those of you who are wondering what in the world that is, I added Rhinestones to the pockets. Apparently it is all the rage in jean fashion (who knew!!!). I even got my tires rotated, new windshield wipers and had my headlight fixed. Today I also did some laundry and cleaned out the pantry.

Today I also took Remy to his 1 year appointment. He is tall and skinny just like we expected. He was 22 pounds 3 ounces (42%), 31.5 inches tall (96%), and head was 18.1 inches (69%). I was so proud of Remy because today we actually passed all of the development questions that they had for us. I am not a failure of a mom this time!!! Wahoo. we have been working so hard doing patty-cake, saying Mommy, Daddy, Chappy, drinking from a cup, eating some normal food, cruisng furniture. For those of you who didn't know or don't remember, it seems like everytime I take Remy to the Doctor they ask me what all he can do or say and we are always a little behind. So this time was bound to be different.

Remy actually has made a ton of progress over the past month. It is amazing how much they can grow in just a few days. He loves to walk behind his walker, give his toys to Chappy to chew on (naughty naughty), the other toys he throws down the stairs, and my favorite he has been saying ma-ma. Saturday when I came out of the shower he saw me, crawled down the hall kneeled and put his arms up and said "Ma Ma" I seriously almost melted right there on the spot. I think I even let out a little tear. He loves his daddy and is always saying Da Da. When Shaun gets home he screams with delight and claps his hands. they love to wrestle, well pretend to wrestle at this point. Remy has really started to like looking at books. He likes his books that have fuzzy things to feel and his favorite bedtime book is "cowboy baby". He wants me to read/sing it like 3 times before he will go to sleep. I have tried other books he usually pushes them away and grabs Cowboy baby again. He is so sweet and such a blessing to our lives. I have some really cute bathtime pictures to post later. He loves his baths and crawls around like a little crazy pants in the water playing with all of his toys. So sweet. I'll post those later.

Remy's 1 year birthday party #1

It's hard to believe Remy is already turning 1 year old. He will be 1 on the 16th. To be honest it has gone way to fast. My little baby is turning into a little boy. Since my parents were going out ot town we had an early birthday party for Remy and than will have one on his birthday with Shaun's family. Here is that sweet little boy all ready for the party to get started.

Shaun has become quite the master bar-b-que/smoker fanantic. He made wonderful ribs for Remy's birthday party. I know, I know, Remy is too young to eat ribs but heck, we don't want to eat his favorite mush either.

Here are Granny and Grandpa with Remy. For some reason I don't have any pictures of anyone else. I think I was busy running around getting everything together. So if anyone has pictures of the party I would love to have them :-)

Here is Remy's delicious cake. It was a white cake with chocolate frosting. He has not ever had sweets ( not that everyone he is around hasn't tried), so I knew this would be quite the adventure and wondered if he would like his cake at all.

At first he was excited to have sticky fingers. He was reaching out trying to get other things sticky, I ended up with chocolate all over me too. He really didn't like the cake though. He kept licking his fingers and than making a funny face like he wasn't sure what to do.

Here is the aftermath. Poor little guy was so sticky head to toe. He even had chocolate in his ears. He had so much fun at his party with all of his aunts and uncles and Granny and Grandpa. To end the night he got to do his favorite thing, take a bath. He was so funny crawling around and splashing in the water. Thanks everyone for coming. I will post about the next birthday party in a bit.

Remy's 1st hair cut

Here they are, the pictures you have all been waiting for. Remy's 1st hair cut. Remy will be 1 year on the 16th. I originally wanted to wait for his birthday to cut his cute curls but he was becoming somewhat of a rag-a-muffin so I decided New Year's eve was the time. My sister-in-law Colette is a hairdresser (she is totally awesome too!!) and so I asked if she wouldn't mind cutting Remy's hair. This first picture is us at the salon getting Remy in the chair. At first he was very excited to be in the spinny chair.

As you can see his concern really began to grow when he had to wear the cape. I also must add that the naughty did not nap at all that day so he was slightly grumpy to begin with.

Once Colette started with the clippers poor little Remy freaked out and started crying hysterically. He was also doing the gator roll. You see him mid roll in this picture. Colette is amazing at cutting hair during a gator roll and it actually is very even and strait. I couldn't have done that well if he had been sitting still. I did want her to leave the combover though. I just wasn't ready to get rid of all of the rag-a-muffinness.

Here we are after the cut. Remy wasn't exactly wanting to me to hold him at this point since I had been holding him down for the entire cut. But he looks so cute!! He does look older which I knew he would but I love the hair cut. Maybe next time we will cut the combover. Baby steps :-)
The other funny thing that happened this week is that Remy has been quite the rebel about going down for naps. It isn't that he doesn't want to he is just to excited about standing up in his crib. So I usually put him down, let him cry for a few minutes than go and lay him down again so he will fall asleep. Monday at work after lunch I put Remy in his crib in my office. He was so tired he could hardly stand it so I knew he would not make it long. I went and saw one patient and came back into my office to find him sitting in the corner in his crib, blanky pulled up under his chin and his head drooping down because he was asleep. The poor kid!!! he doesn't know how to get laying back down once he stands up so he has been falling asleep sitting. He gets that from his Grandpa Isbell, they can fall asleep anywhere in any position :-)
